Entry 2: 1/3/24

Seems like the campaigns in New Hampshire are really heating up on the Republican side in the new year.

Nikki Haley's Super PAC has made $800,000 worth of TV reservations on WMUR between now and the NH primary. That's some impressive firepower but a fraction of what one could spend overall in the market if one added Boston, Burlington, and Portland buys. That said, it's a real commitment and the type of move a challenger needs to make to have a chance at success.

Christie and Trump have both placed smaller buys through their campaigns. Trump is way ahead, so the smaller buy is understandable. On the other hand, Christie, like any challenger to a solid frontrunner, is gonna need some additional Haley-level firepower on the air (or more) to be competitive.

Always fun to see what the other team is spending to win elections. And when we know what these other organizations are planning to spend, it helps us plan out our own buys and TV spending. Because again – TV is still king in political advertising.

More to come!
